Hi
I am simulating a 3d problem using polydata, there are diffrent free surfaces in the simulation some of the will contact during the simulation how can i concider this?
tthere is a fluid-fluid contact option for free surface boundary condition but this is inactive

I think you must be having an incompatible setup for it to be greyed out in Classic Polyflow. I would recommend checking EX-125 Celuka example case and see how your problem is different from this example case that has fluid/fluid contact.
Also, why do you need fluid/fluid contact for your problem? Why can't you use multiple materials model to simulate your case?

I checked the EX-125 Celuka example case you mentioned. In that example, the fluid/fluid contact option is applied in a transient simulation. My current setup is steady-state, so this may explain why the option is greyed out in Classic Polyflow.
The reason I was considering fluid/fluid contact is that I need to account for the possible effect of contact in the model. However, based on the example, it seems that this feature may require a transient setup rather than a steady-state one which is wierd and i dont undrestant why it is just for trnasiant simulations

In Polyflow, all contact definition problems are transient because the application involes something like a preform, a film, or a cell zone that changes and deforms over time. So, it is understandable why fluid/fluid contact model is available with only with transient solver.
Also, if you say your problem can be modeled a steady state, then I (without much knowldege of your exact case or application) don't think it requires a contact definition setup on free surface. You might need a model like multiple materials model, or a moving interface model etc. to study the contact between fluids or fluid zones...

thank you for your response, if I use multiple materials model, or a moving interface model there would be 2 main questions. First, i have actually one material how should i concider two material. second, when we models as multimaterial the contact will not be concidred in the software.Â

Subscriberjust for clarification, in my steady simulation at the inlet the interfaces are not in contact and they are two seperate free surfaces as a result i cant use multimaterials and define interface between these interfaces. is there any uption to define for considering this?
