[Fluent solution] Import 2D mesh with hanging nodes

Hello! I am a beginner of Fluent and I want to use Fluent to implement some validation about mesh adaptation.

My initial mesh is as follows:

The mesh after using the adaption function in Fluent is as follows:

At this point, the refined cells are ’interior‘.

I output the adaptive mesh as a CGNS format file and then I import this CGNS format file. The edges where the hanging nodes are located has become 'exterior'.

How should I handle these hanging nodes to enable them to be solved properly (through CGNS format files)? I would be very grateful if anyone can answer my doubt!

Double check, but the refined cells may not be considered as hanging nodes in the more recent Fluent builds as the newer functions (in 3d anyway) convert them to poly cells. That may not work well with CGNS. Why do you need to export in that format?

Thank you for your reply. I need to use CGNS format due to certain requirements. May I ask which Fluent versions may be able to handle this issue and treat refined cells as hanging nodes instead of converting them into poly cells?

I think we switched at around R18-R19 ish, but it's when we moved to PUMA over the older hanging node method in case that's easier to find information on.
