SubscriberWhile attempting to load in two mesh sizes totaling to 72 million cells, ANSYS fluent will output a cortex error and close the graphics user interface. Potentially relevant hardware and software specs are below. Cause of error is unclear as Fluent shutdown after displaying "Cortex error".
Hardware:
Processor - AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core Processor, 3693 Mhz, 32 Core(s), 32 Logical Processor(s)
RAM - 128GB

Software:
OS - Microsoft Windows 10 Education
GPU drivers - nvldumdx.dll (Model: WDDM 2.7)

Forum ModeratorWhat does the .trn file say? Can you monitor RAM usage during the process? Can the head node see all 128GB of RAM?

SubscriberWhat is the typical file path for the .trn file? I've monitored RAM usage (it is reaching the upper bound of 128GB), but do not possess the specific values seen during setup. The head node's use of all 128GB of RAM may be limited by the specified number of cores (28/32 physical cores) allocated to the simulation.

Forum ModeratorThe number of cores isn't a problem here, but if you're seeing it hit 128GB I wonder if the mesh is too big to work with. Can you read both parts into Fluent Meshing and then switch to Fluent Solver? Meshing is more efficient at combining/changing labels and zone IDs. The .trn file should be in the folder you're setting in the Fluent launcher, ie where the mesh files are kept.
