SubscriberHello,
I have created about this topic on this forum before, however I could not find how I can calculate that factor. I know it can be between 0 and 1, but I want to calculate it for my analysis. Can you help me, please?

Ansys EmployeeThe Fatigue Strength Reduction Factor (FSRF) is a user defined input value used to represent any issue (surface finish, notch, etc.) that reduces the fatigue strength of the part. The Mechanical Fatigue Tool (FT) does not calculate the FSRF. The user must input it. The FSRF is calculated outside of the FT. How to properly calculate the appropriate FSRF depends on what it represents for a particular part. The user must determine how to calculate the appropriate FSRF for any particular application.

Ansys EmployeeHello Louie,
Are you using Fatigue Tool? Here you can see how Fatigue Strength Reduction Factor Kf is inserted in Fatigue tool https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v232/en/wb_sim/ds_Fatigue_Options.html?q=Stress%20Reduction%20Factor
Kf is a user input and can be found in various design handbooks. Once determined you can input Kf, which is refer to as Fatigue Strength Factor, under details view for the fatigue tool.
It takes into consideration material properties such as corosive environment, surface conditions etc and is found in bibliography. Ansys cannot calculate this factor for you.Â

SubscriberThank you so much for your information, I know that corosive environment, surface conditions etc. effects the Kf however I did not find these effects from design handbooks. After I found them, how can I calculate the Kf?
If you have any source about this topic, can you share with me, please?Â
