SubscriberI am using the FDE solver to simulate the modal profile of a waveguide. I am also modifying the cladding (background material) to analyze modal profiles for various materials above the waveguide. My goal is to extract the electric field intensity data from the grid plot to calculate ϵE^2  at each grid point and perform sensitivity analysis.ÂSpecifically, I need guidance on:Â1. How to record the complex electric field values from the simulation.2. Calculating ϵE^2 using these values for each grid point.3. Summing and normalizing the ϵE^2 values to determine the fraction of optical mode intensity above the waveguide in the sensing region.ÂIf there are relevant demos, scripts, or settings within the software that can assist with this, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. -

Ansys EmployeeHi
Â
I would suggest to post this in the photonics forum (Lumerical FDE waveguide solver, etc.) here: https://innovationspace.ansys.com/forum/forums/forum/discuss-simulation/photonics/
as the forum here is related to: installation & licensing of our Ansys Teaching and Research products.
All the best
Erik
