Exporting 2D Mesh File from .cas.h5 file

      Hello,

I have been using adjoint solver with great success for 2D bare tubes over air cross flow. Picture of my design attached. After the optimizations are complete I am attempting to extract the final geometry/mesh, but am having trouble finding a way to do this. Is there a way to export finalized 2D geometry? Eventually I would like to re-mesh the final geometry to perform a grid convergence index study. Additionally, I would like to export to a CAD program so that I can modify the design and prepare/extrude to create a .stl for 3D printing.

These are long term goals, but first I am just trying to find a way to export this mesh/geometry out of the fluent .cas file and am running into a wall. I have looked into potentially using ICEM, but this has failed to load my fluent cases.

      Any help Is appreciated!!

Resave as .cas.gz (Legacy format) and try ICEM CFD again.  The h5 format is newer, and the mesh readers in ICEM CFD may not have been updated.

Thank you for the advice Rob. I re-tried with the .cas.gz format. file ==> import mesh ==> from fluent. And nothing seems to be happening or appearing on the screen besides the dialogue below. I waited an hour just in case as the mesh is 30,000 elements. Perhaps I am missing something as I am new to using ICEM. Many Thanks.

      Hello,

Following up, I was able to get it to successfully load into ICEM if I saved it as simply .cas and not .cas.h5. For some reason the .cas.gz files were not loading. Thank you for the help Rob.

OK, it looks like the ICEM CFD reader doesn't like the zipped (.gz) case format either. Good to hear it's working.

        Hi Dear friend,

Did you manage to prepare the Export geometry STL file by the Fluent adjoint solver for the manufacturing process ?

Assuming you haven't already you may want to post in a new thread.
