Export Mesh/Object as CBD

Hello, I am quite new to ANSYS and am looking for some help. I am building a FE model in ANSYS workbench and which to export the created mesh as a .CBD file. I have used a .stl to export the mesh prior but it does not keep information on surfaces ( which is a must). Thus, I need to know how I can can mesh a geometry, and then export it is a cbd file.

Do you mean cdb file? How are you going to use this cdb file?

      Please check the following:

I do mean cbd file. I am trying to export this model into another analysis software. I am wondering if this file format will maintain split surfaces along with the mesh. My current problem is that surface information is being lost when I try to import my mesh as a different file format.

What am I giving named selections to?

I am making some progress creating .cdb. But when importing it to my other software it says that it contains 'no nodal data'. I cannot find any information on the proper procedure to make a named selection online. Do you have advice or is their a tutorial somewhere?

Please check this link for creating named selections. And if you are exporting cdb using cdwrite command as explained in the KM in my first response, you should be able to read that back in Mechanical using the External model.

Update: I have tried to import my .cdb files back into ANSYS and they have no information on the mesh and geometry. AKA I am not exporting my model data to the .cdb file correctly.
