Explicit Dynamics Problem

Hi, I am performing a study on a BOP ram, and I wanted to conduct an explicit Dynamics study to evaluate a certain operating condition. However, I entered all the required information successfully and I even didn't leave a space between the two bodies, I added the intial velocity, and all other information. However, the cycles number is always zero and there is no any recorded motion or any generated stresses of deformation! I thought that may be the problem that I imported the model from SW!! so I did a model on Discovery and also still the same problem. So, I performed the following simple example first to try to verify where is the problem and then I will apply the true steps on the actual model I have. I attached here below a screenshot from my model for your reference and in case somebdoy can advice me about what to do!

      Thanks

      Hi Amr,

Could you please provide more information about your model?
For example, which body is fixed here and velocity (what is the magnitude and direction?) is applied to which body? Also, how did you consider interactions between the two bodies?

The plate is fixed with a fixed support from bottom

The velocity is assigned only to the cylinderical bar

The velocity magintude is 100 m/s

The direction is towards the fixed plate

I remove the contacts completely and I considered the interaction to be fricionless, below are some screenshots:

      Hi Amr,

I just re-created something similar to your model and I was able to get the expected behavior, please see the screenshot below:

One thing that I did differently though, is the prescribed End Time. I set it to a more reasonable number as I believe 10000 s might be too long. I added a screenshot of my Analysis Settings below for your reference.

This model will drive me crazy :). I did the same "End Time", however the same result. The model is dead!! This is the solution information "

             feature : Explicit - Basic
              type    : Commercial
      Checking model setup.....Please wait
Generating External Faces ...... please wait
      Initializing.....Please wait
      Finished model setup.....
      Initializing workers....
Cycle:        0, Time:  0.000E+00s, Time Inc.: 4.630E-08s, Progress:   0.00%, Est. Clock Time Remaining: -" Can you conclude something from it I  can't see. You have many cycles performed in your model, while me "Zero" cycle!

The problem solved using lower end time value, thanks for your help Armin
