SubscriberHi, I am trying to create an Ansys Maxwell and Icepak Two-Way Coupling analysis to simulate the heating of a high voltage cable. I am doing this according to the videos and PDF from the Ansys website. In Maxwell I get Joule losses and the analysis seems to work correctly however when I run the analysis in Icepak I get an error:
It was only after creating One-Way Coupling and disabling this option that I was able to get results in terms of temperature distribution:
Is there any chance of eliminating this error and carrying out the analysis correctly using options such as those in the manuals? The error occurs when the program tries to recalculate the Maxwell solution. Could changing some solution setup or simplifying the geometry help? -

Ansys EmployeeHi Marta,Â
Thanks for reaching out. Enabling the "simulate source design as needed" should recitfy the error. Have you reviewed the following video?

If you are still getting that error, please file a support case and we will be happy to review your model. Thanks!
Best,

Ansys EmployeeHi Marta,
Â
please execute Validate in the Simulation Tab to ensure this design can pass validation check.
Â
Simulate source design as needed is when you modify the source design and you want an updated source design
solution to be linked to the target design.Â
The possible reason is that in Maxwell, you must enable Include Temperature
Dependence and Enable Feedback in the Temperature of Objects dialog box,
which you can open by right-clicking the design and selecting Set Object
Temperature.Â
Best regards,
Joey

SubscriberHi
I set everything up this way, but I cannot get a solution. Even generating an accurate mesh in Icepak is a problem. I wonder if it is a problem of complex geometry.
I have written about it here:
/forum/forums/topic/high-voltage-cable-in-maxwell-3d/
I don't know if it is reasonable to model in 3D or do the analysis in 2D combined with Fluent? I'm not sure if in Fluent the analysis will work because I don't know if it's a problem with a slow computer or my model.

Ansys EmployeeHi Marta,Â
if you have followed all the steps in the document, then this would need a detailed look into your model and setup.
We are happy to further help you if you submit a service case in the customer portal and let us know.

Thansks,
Joey
