Error when Opening Ansys Mesher

      Subscriber

      Hello,

I have been working with Fluent for a few months, but I suddenly had an issue opening the Ansys Mesher. When I open Ansys Mesher through the Workbench, an error appears. The error reads, "Error waiting for Meshing initialization to complete. Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The details under the error are shown below. The Workbench also produces a popup saying "AnsysWBU.exe encountered a problem. A diagnostic file has been written: .../Temp/AnsysWBDumpFile.dmp".

One strange aspect about this error is that Ansys Meshing is the only program experiencing problems. I can still open Fluent and SpaceClaim. Additionally, Fluent Meshing still works fine.

I should also mention that I have tried opening a new Workbench file, trying a different CAD file (which has definitely worked historically), checking drivers for my video card, and following the suggestions here.

      Any suggestions?

If you open Design Modeler or Mechanical GUI, do you also get an issue ?

What is your graphics card ?

Do you have any .err file under ANSYS Inc folder ?

Go to (default) C:Program FilesANSYS Incv1##prereq  , then manually install each of these one-by-one except those MPI and opencl related

      1) After checking, I am also unable to open Design Modeler. For the Mechanical GUI, I'm uncertain which program you mean. Mechanical APDL? I can open that application fine. Mechanical Modeler? I can't open that program.

      2) I have an NVIDIA Quadro 4000.

      3) I do not currently have any .errr files under C:Program FilesANSYS Inc.

      4) That worked! Thanks for the help!

This doesn't look like a problem with opening Ansys Mesher. I recommend you start a new thread and post this problem. You'll probably get more help that way.

I mean open a new thread on this website. Your problem doesn't seem to be related to my original post. If you make a new post under a new thread, you'll probably receive help faster. Try this: https://studentcommunity.ansys.com/topic/create/

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I have similar errors when trying to launch Ansys Mechanical on HP BL460c blades with TigerVNC grapchics. With a 2020R2 version or a fresh 2021R1, I have the same behavior.
