Hello Matt Madore
Can you please assist with this installation issue?

Joshua can you try to manually stop and remove "FlexLM for Ansoft". You can attempt this from the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. Having this installed will prevent the ANSYS License Manager installation.
You can also try running these commands from an Administrator command prompt.
sc stop "FLEXlm for Ansoft"
sc delete "FLEXlm for Ansoft"
Once done, please try reinstalling the ANSYS License Manager.

That makes sense. But I do have licenses running through FLEXlm for Ansoft. If I do remove that program, is there a way that I can get that back without losing my licenses?
Thank you

Joshua Any license you may have under FLEXlm for Ansoft should run under the ANSYS License Manager using the common vendor daemon. You can install them under the ANSYS License Management Center.

Did you go to the ANSYS License Management Center to install the license file?
-
October 2, 2020 at 3:19 pmjoshua.clinger.ctrSubscriber
Matt Madore you can do that before actually completing the install of the ANSYS License Manager?
-
October 2, 2020 at 3:29 pmANSYS_MMadoreAnsys Employee
No, but because you had a previous failed install it sees the new install as an "update" so looks for an existing license by default. Typically you would not see this message for a first time installation.

October 2, 2020 at 4:31 pmjoshua.clinger.ctrSubscriberMatt Madore now I am running into an issue where the "FLEXnet Licensing" is not running. It looks like it has something to with the TCP 1055 port but after looking over a few things, I did not notice any issue. Maybe you can catch them. By the way the name of the PC I doing this on is FLEX-PC. Please try rebooting the machine.
-
October 2, 2020 at 5:55 pmjoshua.clinger.ctrSubscriberI did reboot the entire machine and now I am getting different error message with "Licensing Interconnect and not running." When it says kill them, it doesn't mean delete them does it?🛈 This post originally contained file attachments which have been removed in compliance with the updated Ansys">https://www.ansys.com/legal/terms-and-conditions">Ansys Learning Forum Terms & Conditions

Matt Madore It can't mean within the Task Manager, because they are not running as processes.

There appears to be an issue with the license file. The message would indicate the hostid of the file may have been changed. That results in: Invalid license key (inconsistent authentication code). I'm going to reach out using our alternative discovery support for further information.

October 2, 2020 at 6:53 pmjoshua.clinger.ctrSubscriberMatt Madore here are some screens of some things involving what the hostid of the machine is, and the actual license file with the hostid in it.🛈 This post originally contained file attachments which have been removed in compliance with the updated Ansys Learning Forum Terms & Conditions
