ERROR: The element option SOLID185 was either not ordered with this ANSYS installation or…

      Hi everyone!

I made a simple model with space claim, I meshed it and when performing structural analysis I get the following error:

"The element option SOLID185 was either not ordered with this ANSYS installation or the appropriate product was not selected for this session."

I have seen this error is because the ANSYS product license currently in use does not include the ability to use this element (/forum/discussion/5206/element-pipe289-error) but I have also checked that SOLID185 is commonly used in ANSYS so I don't get what might be the issue.

Any idea of what could be the source of the problem?

      Thank you

As you indicated above, it is due to licensing limitations.

      Hi Ashish,
      Thank you for your answer.
It was. But not because of my license per se (as I thought at the beggining) but because someone else was using the license at the same time (and we only have one).
      Hope this helps anyone.

That makes sense since - it is a standard element and we should have it.

Thanks for letting us know, and I also hope that this might be of help users experiencing a similar issue.

      All the best for now

      Hi,
Suffering from the same issue but I am the sole user, running on 1 core not distributed, both Solid 185 and 186 are non responsive

I got the error for the SOLID185 too.

Initially it was a SOLID187 error, but I adjusted the mesh. it switched to this error.

I’m on a student license, but I think I should be able to use this, since I’m trying to  complete a simulation excercise from the Structural Boundary Conditions Course
