      Hello friends;

I have a problem. I don't know how to solve this problem. I run the analysis, but the analysis ends without giving an error message. I have examined the output files(message files) and there is no error message.  I tried it on another PC and it didn't work either.  I opened the Message file and the last line reads:

Node     9554 failed on automatic tiebreak interface       4 at time  0.9119E-03
          Normal force= 0.36359844E+02 Normal stress= 0.90899611E+01
           Shear force= 0.20212880E+03  Shear stress= 0.50532196E+02

I could not solve the problem. Can you help? Thank you for your help.

This is triggering some internal error in LS-DYNA. Please try the latest release version R14. If it still does not work, you would have to get in touch with your Ansys account manager to see if you can provide the input file to us throug that route and we can try to resolve the issue. We cannot accept input files through this forum.

      Hello,

This error message is difficult to troubleshoot; there is not much information and the problematic routines are not identified (Unknown).

You could try to identify the keyword causing the problem by removing some keywords in your model and rerunning until you don't see the error message anymore. This can be time consuming. Do you have special keywords in your model that you think could cause the problem?

You are running with SMP single precision. Have you tried running with double precision? Sometimes, it can help get you passed this type of problem.

Other potential solutions is to use the MPP solver and use a later release of LS-DYNA. You can download LS-DYNA here:

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you very much for your concern.

For 1, open the actual keyword file that the pre/post processor is generating and check every line if there is any keyword that was used especially to solve the system you've modeled.

For 2, if you're using the terminal then you've to install the double precision version from here: https://ftp.lstc.com/user/download_page.html, otherwise if you're on a windows machine then use the LS-run for selecting the version inside it. I don't know about ANSYS though.

For 3, follow the same thing as mentioned here for 2. Otherwise go to youtube and search for some tutorials about LS-Dyna installations. They are extensively mentioned in this page: https://lsdyna.ansys.com/download-install-overview/.

As a new ls-dyna user, I think first you should do some simple analysis which follow closely the problem you have. There are a lot of examples in the dynaexamples.com, which were developed for people like us in mind. Start with something simple and I'd say within a week you'd understand everything that was suggested here.

If you're a visual learner, then you can search problems like yours in youtube. Search with "lsdyna for begineers" there and start from there.

      Hi,

Error like this can be challanging to solve. I have found that usualy before the error like this occurs something undesired/unphysical is occuring in a simulation. I would recommend increasing the output frequency (D3PLOTS) just before the error occurs and investigate the last timesteps of the simulation before crash.

      Regards,
      Alex

          Hi,

Frequency of the database binary D3PLOTS are controlled by DT value in the card *DATABASE_BINARY_D3PLOT. Alternatevly, you can specify LCDT curve that specify the frequency of d3plots and IOOPT flag that governs how the plot state frequency is determined from curve LCDT.

Your simulation is terminating after 8.4837e-4, so changing the value of DT to 1E-5 or 1E-6 will give you at least 84 frames or 840 frames.

          Regads,
          Alex
