SubscriberI've seen that Ansys allows us to perform LPBF simulations. However, I am looking to run electron beam powder bed fusion simulations.Â
Is there any way to do that? -

Ansys EmployeeThe main difference between 'Electron Beam' vs 'Laser'Â Powder Bed Fusion is the source of the heat used to melt the powder. Both methods lay down a bed of powder and melt it.
Ansys documents support for "Laser Powder Bed Fusion", but we do not discretely model the source of the heat, only its effect on the build material via a thermal load.Â
Please refer to the LPBF Simulation Guide (1. LPBF Simulations (ansys.com) )Â for details about assumptions and best practices.Â
Before you use Ansys LPBF to simulate your AM build process, be sure to validate the result with calibration tests relavent to your specific application.Â
