Ansys provides research licenses to the student teams via a software sponsorship program. Some of the student teams are struggling to download and install Ansys software. So I am sharing the following information to get the software running on your PC/laptops.

Guidelines for downloading & installing Ansys software on laptops/personal machines:

Customer Portal Access: Once you/your professor get the license key email from us, Ansys software can be downloaded from our customer portal. Note that students cannot access this portal. They are not allowed to enter. So, please request your Faculty advisor (or Professor or University IT staff) to register and download the software.

Software Download: In Ansys customer portal, go to Download > Current Release Section

• For Fluids (CFD) & structural (FEA) analysis, download the package “Fluids & Structures”


• For Electromagnetics Analysis, download the package “Electronics”


• For Material library, download “Granta Selector”

·       Installation: After downloading the software, a person who downloaded the software needs to share it with students along with license keys. Please follow these two steps for installation

[Please uninstall any student version previously installed on your computer before installing Ansys Research version otherwise your research version may not work]

I tried to register my ANSYS account by using my student email, they told me the account already exists. Then I tried to click forgot password, it tends out it said your account has been locked. Contact your support person to unlock it, then try it again.
I am not sure who is my support person. Can anyone here help me out? Is there any staff here?

My ansys license expired early, and i havent been able to get help getting this sorted out. it has set me back significantly in my research for my thesis. Does the release of 2021 have anything to do with why my computer no longer shows active server status?

Does 2021 have specific requirements for a graphic card pr GPU ? I can run a simulation but the CFD Port doesn't complete.

I'm a student in CU Hyperloop trying to install ANSYS Structures package. Most of the people on my team haven't had any trouble installing but I keep running into a critical error. I enter the ip address in the hostname and then review all my settings but once I press "next" it seems Ansys doesn't really begin installing as it stays at 0% and gives me the critical error "instcore.exe is not responding."

Does anyone know what this means? Would love to get Ansys installed as soon as possible.

No, you need Teaching licences for site use. Student is for home learning, on a student's personal machine.  Please talk to your Ansys contact to discuss further. https://www.ansys.com/academic/terms-and-conditions covers the various licence levels and what is permitted.

Student or Academic? The former will be via ansys.com/academic and the latter from the Customer Portal, but you'll need access.
