Discovery Shuts Down Automatically without Error or Warning When Using CFD

      Hello:

The client uses Discovery and can use all physics without a problem, except when using CFD physics the program shuts down automatically without giving any warning, error, or message.

He said is drivers are updated. He updated the drivers to the latest version available from Nvidia and that did not solve the issue.

Regarding video hardware, he has the latest GPUs from Nvidia (dual RTX 4090).  Each card has 24 gb of video memory.

      Please advise.

      Thank you!

      Hello David Giglio

Is this an issue with a specific CFD simulation model or with all CFD simulations? You could try running one of the Sample models to check this out.

Can you please recreate this issue on client's machine and share the latest application logs?

You can find them at the below location. Please zip and share the latest folder from this location.

      Hello Subashni:

Thank you for your reply. I have asked the customer to provide the answers to your questions and provide the application logs, and will provide this information to you when the customer responds.

Here I attached the customer's diagnostic folder from the License Management Center, and the logs from the Windows Event Viewer.

      Thank you!

      Hello David Giglio

Can you please check if this error occurs with one of the sample Fluid simulations?

      Hello Subashni:

The customer has been using the sample models that came with Discovery to check out the functionality.

As a test, he installed Discovery on his laptop (Intel i9 CPU, Nvidia 3080 gpu), and he experienced no issues running the CFD sample models.

Therefore, this appears to be a specific issue with running on his more powerful server (AMD 64-core Threadripper, Nvidia 4090 gpus).

The customer can run Discovery CFD simulation examples in his laptop with no problem. I do not understand how he can run the simulation examples in his laptop but not in his desktop.  I just asked if he used a different license file with his laptop installation.

This is the response from the customer:

“For CFD, only Explore is an option.  When I select Refine, I get the message “Licenses required to solve: CFD Pro or Higher”.  I have included a screenshot below:”

      Hello David Giglio

Refine mode requires CFD Pro + Discovery simulation license.
I'm guessing the customer has Mech Pro + Discovery simulation and is thereby able to run Structural simulations. For CFD simulations in Refine mode, they will need CFD Pro license as well.

      Subashni:

Thank you for your response. So how is the customer able to run Discovery CFD simulations in his laptop then without any problems?
