SubscriberHello,
could you please explain to me the difference between steady-state and transient-dynamic? And my second question is, is it possible to do a thermo-mechanical coupled analysis with these two tools?
Â
Thanks!

SubscriberA Steady State Thermal model calculates the final temperature distribution in a mechanical structure based on the boundary conditions by computing a thermal equilibrium. The solution is independent of initial conditions.
Transient Thermal computes how the temperature changes over time from the initial conditions. If the boundary conditions are constant, the temperature distribution will eventually become the steady state solution if the end time in the simulation is large enough.
Static Structural computes the final equilibrium displacement of a structure given boundary conditions of loads and supports.
Transient Structural computes how the displacement of the structure changes over time from the initial conditions and includes inertia forces and damping forces.
ANSYS can do a coupled thermo-mechanical analysis.

SubscriberHello peteroznewman,
thank you very much for your answer.Â
I have another question. I cannot display my results because of an error message about my Mechanical APDL Solver,
"An unknown error occurred during the Mechanical APDL solution. Check the solver output for the solution information object for possible causes."Â
Can you please help me? Thanks!

SubscriberStep one is to click on the Solution Information folder and look at the Solution Output. Click in the text window and keyboard a Ctrl-F to search for the word ERROR and read what it says.
A Google search on this site of the term "unknown error" has 201 results. Please read most them and come back with a specific question once you have tried a few of the suggestions.
