September 4, 2024 at 8:01 pmaa668SubscriberI am using Ansys Maxwell for 2D Simulation of a Direct On-line start PM machine. This machine is expected to go through demagnetization/magnetization when it is started.ÂIn order to setup the magnet (Ferrite Magnet in this case), I am following Ansys Training Manual WS6.5 : Multiple-stage Magnetization/Demagnetization . I am performing 2 steps -
- Inputting the Descending curve of B-H loop in magnet material definition.
- Turning on demagnetized point calculation in excitation setting.
I want to confirm whether the same steps for variable flux machine can be applied for accurate simulation of direct on-line start machines. -

Yes, the steps you're following are correct for accurately simulating demagnetization. Defining the BH Curve in the magnet material, enabling "compute demagnetized operating points" calculation and applying a desired current is all you need. This procedure should work as for a direct on-line start machine as it does for a variable flux machine.
