SubscriberA beginner in ANSYS here. I was wondering why it is required to input thickness for 2D geometries? Why can't we simulate while having zero thickness? Does this have something to do with meshing..?

SubscriberMany 2D analyses will use the thickness of a surface body in the computation. For example, Plane Stress will use the thickness value in the solver. Contrast that with Plane Strain which does not use the thickness value at all.
