SubscriberHi Everyone,
My model consists of two plates (assuming them to be connected by a hinge). I want to define rotation to one plate and have the other plate rotate freely with respect to other plate using 6DOF. Further, i also want to restrict the rotation angle for the free plate.
I was able to figure out giving motion to one plate using CG_Motion in the udf but for the free plate i am unable to restrict the rotation angle with respect to non-free plate. Can some one suggest how should i go about this?

Ansys Employeethe examples in manual shows how motion can be restricted. Did u check that? -

SubscriberHi,
Thank you for your reply. Can you tell me which manual you are talking about?Â

Ansys Employeeyou can restrict motion and therefore angles. If you want to restrict the angle by using another cg motion udf where you access the motion attributes of the 6dof region and adjust the motion of the zone. -

Ansys EmployeeAnd simple to give maximum and minimum angle as in the one dof properties. That can be also done per udf. -

SubscriberÂ
Thank you for your quick reply.
I have two questions regarding your suggestion above
1) can we access the motion attributes (in my case - angles of a plate that i am rotating) in the cg motion udf of freely rotating plate?
2) How to access the motion attributes (such as angles) of 6DOF region?
If possible can you please direct me to an example in one of the documentations/tutorials that students have access to?
Best Regards,
Vishwa Teja

Ansys EmployeeAnd you define the motion relative to another zone. if still not clear provide more details and screenshot how the bodies will move relative to another. -

SubscriberIn 6DOF, the minimum and maximum angles are with respect to global reference frame right? but I want to restrict the angle of the free plate with respect to another plate that i am prescribing motion to. How to restrict the angle of free plate with respect to other plate?Â

SubscriberI am attaching my model below. I am prescribing motion to plate 1 and plate 2 is free to rotate. However, i want to restrict the rotation of second plate so that the second plate does not move more than 180 degreed with respect to plate 1. I have prescribed motion for plate 1 using a UDFÂ but i am unable to restrict the angle for plate 2 with respect to plate 1. Points 1 and 2 are the rotation points for each plate, respectively.
