Data sampling for steady and unsteady flow simulations

Hi

I am reporting files for monitors. What is meant by vertex average of mean velocity magnitude monitor in fluent for steady state solns? Does that mean it averages the velocity magnitude over a fixed number of iterations? 

And also if i turn on data sampling checkbox, what does that do for both steady and unsteady simulations? thanks

You've got two parts:

Vertex average - how the single point data is found. That's covered in the User's Guide. 

Mean Velocity - I assume you've turned on the data sampling?

Yes i hve turned on data sampling in steady state and selected mean velocity magnitude in the monitor selection for reporting file. So here mean means averaging over iterations right?

Yes, for steady it'll average the data field over the number of iterations set/run over.
