SubscriberHello,
I am trying a simple model of beams, and a damping effect is appearing although no visable card including damping is used. The beam is modelled wiht MAT_SPOTWELD.
This are the forces in the SPC at the start of the beam:
How is the force reduced? Is due to artificial damping due to numerical reasons?

Ansys EmployeeHi
Try mat01/elastic and elform=1 in beam section (no failure mat100card also) and see if that also gives this behav.
(so just simple linear elastic beam)
All the best

Ansys EmployeeHi
I have verified this – must be some damping applied in the backgorund to this material/elform=9. I agree it is strange I must say.
We will look into this – thanks for bringing it up. (hope to have some feedback next week perhaps).
Also feel free to log a support ticket and so we can track the progress of this strange behaviour/issue perhaps – mention this post and me and I will take the ticket and help you.
All the best

Ansys EmployeeHi Roberto
As we saw I can confirm that there is damping applied in the backgorund (can not be changed) to matspotweld.
However This high frequency damping should not cause any problems.
All the bestErik

SubscriberHello!
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the effort! Indeed, we were not expecting the damping but it should not be a problem for us.Again, thanks for the good work!
Best regards,
Roberto
