SubscriberHello Everyone,
I was trying to model a Beam Column sub assemblage where the model is loaded cyclically with 24 load steps. I modeled the plasticity using a multi linear Kinematic hardening model with 6 stress-strain points. The Hysteresis graph (Shear Force in the beam vs Beam Rotation) , as shown below ,is very different from the experimental one. why is the graph not expanding as the experiment? Should I use Chaboche model with Isotopic Hardening to get accurate results? The material Models are correct since they give fairly good results under monotonic loading with Isotropic hardening. If I have to use the chaboche+Isotropic model can you please explain how to model them?
Thanks

SubscriberThanks @akhemka, the post was very helpful. My other Question is how do you define Chaboche Kinematic hardening? is it with nonlinear isotropic hardening? Can we use bi-linear or Multi-linear isotropic hardening? For example Abaqus uses a combined isotropic + kinematic hardening where you input half cycle stress strain data and the chaboche constants, so my question how do we do it here in Ansys?nThanks. nNovember 13, 2020 at 4:32 pmBadry
SubscriberHi ArraynI am wondering if you got any answers to your question about how to define Chaboche kinematic hardening.nI appreciate if you could share it with me and help me solving it.nNovember 16, 2020 at 10:23 amAbelBerhanemeskel
SubscriberHi @BadrynYou can define Chaboche kinematic hardening from the plasticity option in the material data options. If you want to define the a combined isotropic +kinematic hardening model you can use the Chaboche kinematic hardening with any of the isotropic hardening models. If you want a better result for the cyclic loading you should use a chaboche kinematic hardening model with the nonlinear isotropic hardening model (Voce). The calibration method for the chaboche and isotropic nonlinear hardening parameter is shown in these papers. You need a uniaxial cyclic load test. nNovember 16, 2020 at 10:43 amAbelBerhanemeskel
