Custom Constraints in Topology Optimization

      Hello everyone,

I was looking around the Topology Optimization tool in ANSYS Mechanical and want to implement custom constraints, i.e. user defined stress calculations. The only stress related constraints are 'Global Stress Constraint' (with the option to choose between von-Mises stress and the first principal stress) and 'Local von-Mises Stress Constraint'.
Am I missing something here or is this feature not implemented yet?

Thanks for clarification and for answering my question!

Sorry, this is not currently possible. I entered an enhancement request to use python to define a user criteria a couple years ago. Here is the enhancement tracking number:

      6ERAFE08032021

What you can do right now is click on the analys system linked to the Topology Optimization system. Right click on the Solution to Insert a “User Defined Criteria.” You can choose from Displacement, Reaction Force, Rotation, Reaction Moment:

in the Toplogy Optimization analysis, you can use this criteron in the Objective table or when you insert a “Criterion Constraint.”

Thanks for your swift reply and for pointing out how to add user defined criteria as a constraint. Unfortunately I already had a look at it and it doesn't quite fulfill my needs.

Using the python interface for designing custom constraints would be ideal, so let's hope it gets implemented in a future update.

      Thanks again!
