Hi everyone,
I am working on a coupled simulation involving a two-step process in Ansys Workbench. The system setup is depicted in the attached images.
In the first step, which is a static structural analysis, a constant pressure is applied, compressing a spring. In the subsequent explicit dynamics step, a pressure wave is introduced.
The primary objective of this simulation is to analyze the behavior of the compressed spring when subjected to the pressure wave.
I need to transfer the displacements from the static structural step as an intial condition to the explicit dynamics step. However, I am encountering issues as the simulation does not seem to reflect the impact of the pressure wave applied in the explicit dynamics phase.
Is it possible to achieve this transfer of displacement results in Ansys Workbench? Please review the attached images and advise if there are any steps I may be missing or any adjustments needed to accurately simulate this effect.
Thank you for your assistance.

I would just do it all in the Transient structural system. In that system have 2 steps.
One/first is the static (set Time integration to Off for a Static analysis),
and then you apply the dynamic load in the final step (set Time integration to On in Analysis Settings for a Dynamic analysis).
One will have one pressure load which is static constant for the first step/time and then dynamic varying for the second step (this can be done by tabular loading like you show, it will just include also the initial static pressure load)
All the best
Erik
