Convergent Divergent Nozzle

      Good afternoon,

       

      I am working on a research project involving a convergent divergent nozzle in a schlieren optical setup. I have done the theoretical calcuations of my expected exit properties and have moved to simulation to verify the results and to determine if my nozzle will produce Mach Diamonds from my determined values. I have ran a 2D simulation of just the nozzle to see if a shock forms insde the nozzle first. After I have been trying to run the simulation with an exit region to see the exhaust plume. However I keep getting the results seen in the image below. I will sometimes get weird artifacts in the resutls like a random red dot with a color gradient around it but it is just mostly blue every time. I have the same setup as I had for my stand alone nozzle, but I keep getting the same results. I have posted my solution methods and boundary conditions if anything else is needed please let me know.

      Hello,

      Could you show the mesh and it's details? Like the y+ value, growth rate and the number of inflation layers? Which model (options) are you using? Did you try FMG initialization? Please show the residuals too.

        I am sorry for the late reply. I have created a new simulation with better resutls but am getting a error when I reach a certain number of itterations. All the information from the previous simulation is the same such as my solution methods, boundary conditions and fluid properties. The images show the result I am getting right before the itteration cap, followed by the solution I am getting affter the itteration cap, the residuals after the cap seen on the far right, and the error messsage that is populating when the certain number of itterations is happening. 

        I have also attached what I assume you wanted for the mesh details, and I do not know what FMG Initialization is.
