Hi,
I have the following case: a plate of irregular shape supported on 2 cylinders and a load applied by two cylinders as shown in the image. However, the cylinders are not in contact because the plate is irregularly shaped (thinking of achieving this in the simulation).
I have loaded this model in Mechanical. The cylinders are rigid bodies and the plate is flexible. For the definition of the contacts I have this configuration the same for all the cylinders:
This is the contact tool report:
Â
I have the meshing with the following local meshes.
I have two fixed supports, the lower ones and 2 free remote displacement in the -Y direction which is where I apply the load. The load is applied on the cylinder surfaces. I have an additional remote displacement on the plate that has helped me to converge the solution but I am not sure if it is valid:
Â
Â
And in the Analysys settings I have it configured like this:
However, when I run the simulation usually a lot of bisections occur, it does not converge or it says the contacts have separated abruptly.Â
What could I do to help Ansys to solve the problem? -

Allow a lot more substeps, such as initial=1000, min=10, max = 1e5. Set Newton Raphson residuals to 3 in the solution information to locate problems in unconverged solution. Show images of those contours.
View any partial results for partial deformation to see if the model is sliding off the rollers. Can you show a zoomed-in picture of the roller mesh and mesh on the plate where the rollers meet?
