Hi,Â
I have shown below two approaches for meshing contact and target bodies. Could you help to advise which is the preferred method, where i am doing a frictional contact between the two.
As according to ansys documentation, i interpret that a finer mesh for contact body and a coarse for target would reduce penetration and give more accurate result?
Thanks for the support

Hi,
A finer mesh for the contact body and a coarser mesh for the target can indeed reduce penetration and yield more accurate results. This is because a finer mesh on the contact side will have more contact detection points, which helps in better capturing the interaction between the contact and target surfaces, thus preventing penetration
Please refer to this link: Designating the Contact and Target Sides Properly — Lesson 1 (youtube.com), you like to get a better understanding of the selection of contact and target sides.
Thanks,
Deepak
