Contact Duration

Hi good day, posting this again because I didn't get any reply from previous post.

How can I increase contact duration in an impact simulation on ansys transient structural?

When there is an impact in a physical experiment, there is a contact duration. Are you asking about how to increase the contact duration of the physical truth?

A simulation of an impact will be done with a certian time increment. If the time increment is small, there will be many frames in the results showing a lot of detail during the contact duration.  If the time increment is large, there will be few or no frames in the results during the contact duration. Are you asking about how to get more detail in the results for a given contact duration?

Well I was wondering if there was a contact duration setting in Ansys but from your response seems that is dealt with through time step?

Also, Im just trying to figure out the impact force. Im simulating impact collision on a bridge. But sometimes with higher initial velocity I get lower peak force than a lower velocity, should't the force be directly proportional to the velocity? I extract impact force from the target underlying elements (impacting object) because they seem to go back to zero as expected, when extracting from contact underlying the force doesnt seem to go back to zero ( I assume because this for the whole girder and not just the contact region maybe?? Idk, initially thought it will be same from both). I attached some screenshots to help.
