Consultation about Transient Thermal Analysis

I recently came across ANSYS white paper by Prem Andrade and found the information on page 7 regarding the suggestion to use three cycles to get thermal solution.

I found the concept intriguing, but I have a few questions about the methodology and its application to understanding the degradation process of a product.
While the document suggests using three cycles to determine the thermal solution, I am curious about how this relatively small number of cycles can accurately represent the product's thermal performance over a long time (since effects will accumulate) and degradation process. Specifically, I am interested in understanding:
      1. Theoretical Basis: What is the theoretical basis for using only three cycles to conduct thermal analysis? How does this approach account for the various stages of degradation that typically occur over a product's lifespan?
      2. Data Extrapolation: How can the data obtained from these three cycles be extrapolated to predict long-term performance and degradation? Are there specific models or equations that should be applied?
      3. Accuracy and Reliability: What measures are in place to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the analysis based on just three cycles? Are there any specific conditions or assumptions that need to be met for this method to be valid?
      4. Case Studies or Examples: Are there any case studies or practical examples available where this three-cycle method has been successfully implemented to predict the thermal performance and degradation of a product?
      Thanks!
