Hi all, I'm new to Ansys and working on a model involving an unconventional bolting setup:
Right now, I have a frictional contact between the bolt head and gusset, bonded contact between the bolt shaft and nut, and frictional contact between the nut and the beam. All frictional contacts have a coefficient of 0.2
I also have a frictionless contact between the bolt shaft and these highlighted walls on the gusset and beam below, because those are basically the "bolt hole" in this case. I'm also applying bolt pretension to each bolt of 200N.
Would you recommend any changes to this setup, or should this work? I'm having convergence issues with my model and was wondering whether part of this bolt setup could be the issue.

Applying Bolt Pretesnion using a Load (force) with non-linear contact can be very difficult to converge.
I would apply the pretension as small Length (distance) to make sure your contact is set correctly. You can read the resulting force as needed.-

I see, I'll try using the adjustment method instead of force pretension if my simulation keeps failing to converge. Thank you!
