BOI label does not appear in the Fluent meshing list

      Hi all!

I'm trying to locally refine the mesh at a y-pipe junction of sorts.
When I go for the body of influence, the named selection I used for the solid is nowhere to be found.

This is how things look in the SpaceClaim 23 structure tree, with the BOI solid in the root:

The one selected is the region I want to refine in the symmetrically split y-pipe, and it was labelled as a solid name selection "boi_wake":

I do get some sort of Fluent-generated label (i.e. not one of my named selections) which contains the structure name for the BOI solid, but if I use it the body of influence is carved out of my fluid domain. You can see the name of the label and the missing wedge below:

Same thing if I select by zone, and choose the one which contains the named selection as part of its name:

So I'd like to understand what's going on with labels/zone/names and why I can't get the BOI working as intended.

P.S. the actual solid was pulled revolving a triangle around the "receiving" pipe axis. It was pulled with no merge toggled on, and I double checked that the water domain was indeed intact.

      Hi Alex,

This is because you have named the solid bodies in the structure tree and not in the Group tree. Names given in the Structure tree are not recognized as Named Selections (or labels). You can create named selections in the SpaceClaim Groups panel and then use these groups as named selections in Ansys.

      To create a named selection:

      1. Select the objects you want to include in the group. If you want to name a face, click on that face. If you want to name a 3d body, then either choose that from viewer or else you can click on the body from the structure tree.

      2. Click Create NS in the Groups panel. This creates a named selection for the object. The default name is "Group1". You can double-click on it to rename it. And give a name of your choice.

Now, if you import it to spaceclaim, this named selection will appear under labels.

Hi CFD_Friend, thanks for coming to the rescue!

Actually, I did use the Named Selections!

As stated above, the solid Named Selection is "boi_wake" which also appears in auto-generated labels, whereas the structure tre name is "BOI-wake region".

I did not grab a screenshot of the Named Selections but I can send one if you really need it! Got other Named Selections in the model and I have been using them from day one.

So it might be something else I guess

      Hi Alex,
