SubscriberHello,
I am wondering if there is a way to use a 2D section of a beam for stress analysis given complex bending (say, Mx and My). I have tried to apply a bending moment to a 2D surface but Mechanical says the application is invalid. I'd also like to be able to retrieve section properties, such as shear center and moments of inertia, given a 2D section of a beam. What tools or procedures should I look at to accomplish these in Mechanical?
Thanks! -

Ansys EmployeeThere's an APDL capability to create a beam cross-section from a 2D mesh described in Section 12.3 of the Structural Analysis Guide. There's no such feature in Workbench/Mechanical.
