I have a model with around thousand line bodies. I want to assign different cross sections to these line bodies. Is there an easy way of doing it in ANSYS Workbench or do I need to select individual members and assign them the cross section?

Aren't you talking about assigning section properties in SpaceClaim? or are you talking about Mechanical?

You should be able to control select all and change the section properties in details. Is this not what you are seeing? Share a snapshot to help us understand better.

What about if I want to do that in Mechanical, by using Commands or Python codes without opening the model in design modeler?

I am talking about assigning cross sections in design modeller.

You can select multiple beam from the tree and assign a cross section for all selected beams

You will have to select the beams that have the same cross section and change the property

You can select from tree or box select from the graphics screen and change the property

After assigning different cross sections( i.e., rectangle and Z ) to the same line body in the same problem of a static structure, the result appears different for deformation. I thought ansys doesnt consider cross section on a line body, but why does my solution differ?someone explain please.
