I am trying to work on some simple shear-moment diagram with a beam, but my profile would be a trapezoid. I had the Surface file in Spaceclaim as .scdoc file format which is the profile CAD file. And I tried to plot a line to represent the beam and assign the Surface file as it's cross section area. But after clicking "More Options" in Profile under Prepare tab, I imported and it's giving me error like "Profile must have a coordinate system. Profile must have a single colored face."

SubscriberThe simple way to do this is Pull the cross-section into a solid beam on the Design Tab using the Pull tool. On the Prepare tab, click the Extract button to turn the solid into a beam and the trapezoid cross-section will be prepared for you.

Thank you for your explanation, that works!
But if I want to divide my beam with trapezoid profile into 3 parts (like below picture). Since I would like to apply 2 fix supports at the bottom of the beam (place 1 and 2), and apply two pressure on the top of the beam (place 3 and 4). Do you know how can I do that with the method of extract?

SubscriberWhen you have the full length solid, create two planes where you want the supports and use Split Body to make 3 pieces. Extract each piece into a Beam. Then on the Workbench tab, use the Share button to make sure that the pieces share a nodes at each cut plane. Then in Mechanical, you will have a Vertex to support.
