Applied Force on two surfaces.

  Hello,
  
  When the lateral force 3040 lb shown below is applied to the red surfaces. Does each surface get 3040 lb or 3040 lb is applied to the total red surface area?

  The total load is what you apply. Now ansys will calculate an equivalent pressure and apply that in these faces. The total force is still equal to what you specify.
