ANSYS workbench error Exception of type ‘Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexNotAvailableException’ was thrown

I am running a mesh independence study using DesignXplorer. My schematic includes ICEM CFD -> Fluent -> CFD-POST.I have created a parameters table in Workbench with different mesh sizes. I have set a constant maximum global mesh size in ICEM CFD. I have created a set of different values for scale factor in the parameters table. However, for some reason, I get a number of different errors only for some design points, where other design points run smoothly, and produce results without any errors.

      First error:

ANSYS workbench error Exception of type 'Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexNotAvailableException' was thrown

      Second error:

Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexCommandFailedException: An error occured in FLUENT while applying case and settings informatins.

An error occured in FLUENT while applying case and settings informatins.

I dug deeper and realised that there is a problem with meshing for the design point that results in the first error: When I open ICEM CFD separately for this design point and compute mesh, I get an error that says there is a hole in the geometry. This is odd because other design points do not show this problem. Also when I ask ICEM to fix it, it asks me to select edges and I have no idea what edges to select as the mesh is already displaying and it looks fine.

As for the second error, the mesh generation is errorless so I am not sure what the problem is.

I would appreciate some insight on this matter. I very much like the DesignXplorer however it is causing me a lot of trouble and I would like to solve this issue.

      Thanks

There could be a number of factors. Typically design points fail because the geometry is invalid, topology changes or features become too small (or big) for the mesh.

When you say that you've got mesh in ICEM CFD, is it a valid volume mesh, or just the surfaces?  What happens if you take that geometry into ANSYS Meshing (Workbench)?

Thank you for replying. The problem was the location of the fluid bodies. For some reason, different mesh sizes require different locus for the fluid bodies in order to create a homogenous geometry without holes. After playing around with the geometry and moving around the fluid bodies, I managed to get the design points to work.

Hi, I'm having a similar problem. I split a face of a body into three parts and then merged the nodes. However, when I transferred the mesh to Fluent, I got the same message as am6e18 did.

These are my settings on Meshing. Thank you in advance.
