Hello all,
I have recently downloaded and installed Ansys on my personal machine. I am running the student version. I have the standard 4k display issues discussed everywhere else, but with a seemingly more rare issue as well. Workbench operates great and all display issues were resolved by changing system DPI settings. However, when attempting to use Mechanical or DesignModeler, the view window for the object is misplaced in the window. It covers several buttons and is very small. I found one other post referencing this issue, but there was no viable solution provided. I've changed DPI settings on every .exe file installed with the ansys package and changed the resolution on my monitor to the suggested 1920x1080. When I did this, the window remained displaced but just grew larger. I'll attach photos. Please let me know if you have a solution! Thank you!
Joseph

Hello Joseph,
We are not allowed to download attachments on the posts. Can you paste the screenshots on your reply?
Have you tried log out and login after you made the resolution changes? Have you tried changing the Scaling setting to a lower percentage?

Sorry about that, I've changed it to screenshots! I did a full restart after the changes and still had the same issues. I'm not sure what you mean by changing the scaling percentage. I've changed the resolution to several different ones but haven't had any completely fix the issue.Â

Thank you Joseph.
When you Right click on Desktop and go to Display settings, there should be a Scaling setting.
Also, please type %appdata% under Windows search and then go into Ansys folder, rename vxxx to vxxx.old (vxxx coul dbe v201 if you are running 2020 R1, v195 if running 2019 R3 and so on)
Please try updating the Graphics card driver on your machine to the latest as well.

Okay I did adjust the scaling settings and it did not change much. I also renamed the file and nothing changed either. I checked the graphics card drivers and they are all up to date! Any other ideas?Â
Also, I uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled the software and it still has the same issue.Â

I finally figured out the issue. When I adjusted the High DPI settings, I set the "High DPI Scaling Override" to System(Enhanced). For whatever reason, that caused the system to miss adjusting the viewer window. I went back in and changed the setting to "System" only, it fixed all the 4k display issues in all programs as well as the viewer window issues.Â
The file i changed compatibility settings on is the AnsysFWW.exe file, located in:
Programs(C: )-> Program Files -> ANSYS Inc -> ANSYS Student -> v201 -> Framework -> bin -> Win64 -> AnsysFWW.exe
Then I right clicked and went to properties, then compatibility tab, then change High DPI settings.
These are the settings I set it to:

Hey Ricardo - Play around the display resolution setting and scaling. I changed my display resolution to 1920 x 1080 and scaling to 100%. It worked.

Hi, I changed "High DPI scaling override" to "system" on AnsysFWW.exe, Mechanical's shortcut and Workbench's shortcut.
Icons displayed on Workbench and SpaceClaim are normal now, but not the Mechanical. In Mechanical the toolbar buttons' display (Select Fillters, e.g., vertex, edge, face) is normal but the ribbon buttons still have some issues.
Anyone have an idea of how to solve this?
