Hi there,

My FSAE team has been granted a great opportunity with an Ansys network/server license. We are having difficulties distributing this license among the team members though, and we have connected just one laptop to the license and the license is currently hosted on that laptop. What we have tried so far is for another laptop to install the software and download the license file hosted from the other laptop from the licensing portal and add the license on the license management center. This was done using the same school internet but did not work. Is anyone able to give us a guide on how to properly share this license?

Hi Rikuto,

Please make sure that the "Get System HostID Information" hostname must be same as mentioned in the license file.

Also, can you send a screenshot of "View FlexNet Debug log".

The error means the hostid of the license file is different compared to the License Manager.

How exactly would you do that with one license file? I believed that the license had to be hosted from just one laptop. The license file downloaded was the file generated from the laptop that is intended to host the license. Is this something that must be done on the licensing portal?

Can you send the screenshot of "Get System HostId Information" and a screenshot of your license file, which you are trying to upload?

Here you go. I understand that they are different host IDs but just unsure of how to make them the same

Hi Rikuto,

I see the license file and "Get System HostId Information" is different. May I know on which server you want to upload the license file? Also, you can change the server name if you have ASC access to the licensing.ansys.com portal or else contact your Ansys Account Manager for same.

We'd like to host it on the server indicated on the license file. However, we would also like to use it on other computers. I want to know how you can change the server name and if you can have multiple computers using the same license if there are many license files with different server names

Please contact your Ansys Account Manager, they will guide you.

Also, you can use licesning.ansys.com portal link to rehost the licenses.
