SubscriberI've currently using ANSYS Academic version 2020 R1 . I have been trying to simulate a 3 blade VAWTÂ (Shown) in Fluent after creation of the geometry in space Claim but upon attempting to apply an enclosure before meshing I keep getting the following error.
Â
" An error occurred while creating the enclosure - 2 bodies could not be subtracted from the enclosure body"
Â
Kindly assist , what needs to be done. -

Forum ModeratorIs the enclosure bigger than the blade? If a surface is touching are the two surfaces identical? For the latter it may be easier to extrude the blade slightly so it's sticking out of the enclosure.Â

SubscriberYes the enclosure is 5 times bigger than the whole rotor comprising of the 3 blades and no surface surface is touching

Ansys Employeeselect bodies in structure tree --> right click --> select check geometry.Â
your geometry must be error free before you use combine.Â

Forum ModeratorThe first suggestion is not to post extra threads: they take time to clean up.
If there are thin bodies enclosure may struggle. Have a look at Fluent Meshing as I think you can put a shell around the object (same size & shape as your enclosure) and see how baffles are handled.Â

Subscriber.Hi
the problem is : Your surface is thin
solution :
1/ you can pull it ( pull function ) if your surface is not complicated
2/ you can use the stitch function
please look at the following video
3/ I don't know a lot about this function but you can try: facets then: thicken
Stitch function is enough to solve the problem
