Ansys R19.2 File Won’t Work in 2023 R2

Hi all, I have a simple problem like this.

This is a shaft subjected to a torsion load in the x-direction. The frictionless supports represent the bearing. I recently opened my old archives from R19.2 and it was working fine. However, when I re-run it in 2023 R2, pivot error happened.

I know that this model is not properly constrained, but my questions are:

      1) Why was this model working in R19.2?

      2) How can I sufficiently represent the bearing support so that it can be solved?

I can provide the .wbpz if needed. Thanks!

      Hello,

      Lets try :

Analysis Settings > set Solver Pivot Checking to OFF and see if you get a solution.

Hi Gary, thanks for your suggestion. I already tried to set the solver pivot checking to "off", but the error still happened. Any other suggestions?

On the Moment conditions, see if setting the Behavior property to Rigid or Coupled is helpful. (Default is Deformable).

I have tried to change it into "Coupled", the simulation was solved, but with no deformation at all Gary

A general procedure for determining why a difference in results for different versions.

       – Compare the solver input file (ds.dat) file generated from 19.2 to the solver input file generated from 2023R2.
This can help narrow down any differences in solver settings etc.

       – Compare the Solution Information (solve.out) file between verisons. Pay close attention to any differences in Warnings or Notes that might give a clue.

       – Can you confirm the results obtained in 19.2 were accurate? Do the reactions match the input?
