As other users in this forum have reported, the Ansys Discovery Student version does not find any licenses after installing.
Hi everyone,I am getting this error as you can see this screenshot attached.
First Message when I launch Ansys Discovery 2021 R2 at the login screen. (Attachment name: Ansys Issue)
Error: Unable to connect to or start local server.

Second Message after I try to login after launching Ansys Discovery 2021 R2 Program. (Attachment name: Ansys Issue 2)
Error: No Discovery Licenses Found. Operating in Read Only Mode.

Please note that I used my University Email to login and use. This allowed me to download LSDyna as well which works fine but the problem seems to be solely with Ansys Discovery. I also changed my Password, turned off my VPN, logged in again, reinstalled and did some basic troubleshooting myself. It hasn't helped so far.
I would really appreciate it if someone could please help me with this issue.

Are there any errors listed in that file? Can you post the contents? Not the file as we are not permitted to open them.

These are the errors present in the .out file.
From what I've noticed, it's trying to pull a license file from a disk (C:) that was not used on the install procedure. Maybe redirecting it to search for the file in the correct disk should do the trick, but how can one do that?
October 14, 2021 at 1:01 amLFSSSubscriberJust so that this post doesn't go into inactivity, I've found that my Ansys Discovery installation is referencing to a license file in another disk, not the one where it was installed. Finding a way to redirect the license check could be the solution to my and others' problems.

October 27, 2021 at 1:58 amLFSSSubscriberThis is most likely a faulty version that was released without some vital licensing information. I've tried everything since I first downloaded this on the last week of September.
If anyone could give any kind of feedback to all of us in trouble, that'd be swell.

1 - uninstall Ansys
2 - clear the Ansys folder (where you've installed it)
3 - clear the Ansys cache ( here some previous configs are set, which can causes some troubles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiwOxiMgqE0
4 - reinstall Ansys
5 - update virtual environments variables (you must certify that the path of the application is correct, for me the program was calling an old path from an old Ansys Version)
November 2, 2021 at 1:07 pmvganoreAnsys EmployeeGuys, the license issue in Discovery Student has been resolved. If you are facing this issue then please uninstall the product, redownload from the website and install. The updated product should run fine.
November 3, 2021 at 10:02 pmPatrick3463SubscriberAnother solution if solution isnt working is installing the R1 version which has proper licence files. I had 2.1 installed and tried so many things which didnt help. I installed the R1 and suddenly both started working. Licence picked up. All working. Tried it on my laptop too. Same story. R2.1 on its own, no licence, then install R1 and both work again.
