Ansys Discovery Gravity and rotating fluid

I am using Ansys Discovery to model a tank with 3 agitators, 2 of the agitators are at the top of the tank and their diameters are about 1/8th of the diameter of the tank. The 3rd agitator is at the bottom of the tank and the diameter is 15/16th of the diameter of the tank. I have gravity enabled with only the small agitators are rotating and everything looks good but when I enable the larger agitator it gives me an error that the rotating fluid zone is not alligned with gravity. The agitators are all rotating aroung the y-axis, and gravity is specified in the -Y direction.

I was wondering if the size of the larger agitator could be causing the error, since it's weird that the small agitators work fine with and without gravity, while the larger one only works if I turn off gravity. Any insight into this issue would be much appreciated, as I've done a fair bit of internet searching but can't find much about this problem.

      Hello Bushrat,

The error you're encountering with the larger agitator in Ansys Discovery might be related to the setup of the rotating fluid zone and its interaction with the gravity settings.

Given that the smaller agitators are working fine, it's possible that the size of the larger agitator is affecting the alignment with gravity due to the way the rotating fluid zone is defined or the mesh is generated around it. It's important to review the setup of the rotating fluid zone for the larger agitator, ensuring that the volume and mesh accurately represent the impeller's dimensions and that the boundary conditions are correctly applied.

Refer this In-Depth - Fluids - Ansys Knowledge and Rotating Fluid Zones tutorial for more information.

Let me know if further assistance is needed.

      Regards,

      Devendra
