ANSYS 2024 R2 Student License Manager Error

      None of the ANSYS Student 2024 R2 product works for me. Browsed through the forum and noticed a number of us are having the same issue. Appreciate if anyone can help to resolve this.

      • Workbench - Error with unknown reasons
      • Mechanical - Unknown error, can only use in read-only mode
      • Discovery - License Manager Error, can only use in read-only mode
      • Space Claim - License Manager Error, can only use in read-only mode

      What I've tried:

      • Installed with admin access. Uninstalled and re-installed multiple times and it still didn't work.
      • Installation package downloaded from the correct source (https://www.ansys.com/academic/students/ansys-student). Deleted old package and re-download didn't help either.
      • I've checked and delete the 'ansyslmd.ini' in the licensing folder.

      Hi Mike,

      Check your event logs for error, goto start menu> event viewer> Windows logs> Application log.

      Hi Rajeshwari,

      I started Workbench/Discovery a few times but I don't see any error log generated immediately. Anyway, here are some error logs recorded yesterday for AnsysWBU and Discovery:

      I have updated my NVIDIA graphics driver to the latest version but the same error still showing up.

      Seems like something is wrong with the free student license, here is the error message from Fluent:

      Could anyone from Ansys provide an update on the student license issue? There are several threads discussing this problem, but so far, there hasn't been a solution from Ansys.

      Hello everyone and Ansys Team,

      I have problem with ansys discovery. I installed ANSYS Student. When I open it it shows ‘ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR: Maximum licensed number of demo users already reached’. Picture below.

      After that when I click ‘OK’, another prompt shows up saying ‘License checkout failed’ and ask us to choose alternative license. Picture below. 

      I click ‘OK’ and though, the window didn’t show again. But this is after my reinstallation. The first installation of mine, the same thing happened, and I clicked ‘OK’ and after 2 weeks, the same windows show up again. 

      Could anyone tell me how to solve this problem? And why is this happening?

      Hi everyone, 

      I am having the same exact problem with the Ansys 2024 R2 free student version. Every time I open any application like Space Claim or Fluent the Ansys license manager error pops up. does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

      Try to rename the Ansys folder to Ansys.old %appdata% and relaunch the application, check under event logs if any error is observed.
