Hi,

I installed ansys 2022 R1 on ubuntu 22.04. ansys starts ok in terminal mode and in gui. However,  starting the workbench results in the following err msgs:

ANSYS 2022R2 is the first release to support Ubuntu.

Thanks, Randy, for your reply.

I have tried to install as you have mentioned, but got the following errors:

E: Unable to locate package libhogweed5
E: Unable to locate package libnettle7

The pakages are installed in a more recent version, the one that is part of the 22.04 (jammy) repository, namely:

libhogweed6 & libnettle8.

I tried to overcome the problem by installing also the missing versions, to no avail.

I am aware that ubuntu 22.04 will be supported as of ansys 2023R2. However, is there any unofficial/unsupported method to get ansys 2022R1 to run on ubuntu 22.04? Is the problem limited to using the ansys-workbench or are the terminal and gui versions also affected, although they seem to start normally?

Hi Zvika,

Unfortuantely, the first ANSYS release tested on Ubuntu was 2022R2.

I was able to start 2022R1 after installing the additional packages:
   sudo apt-get install alien
   sudo apt-get install lsb

Thanks Randy. With your suggestion I managed to get ansys221 WB going. Had some mesa-swrast isssues. Updating the Nvidia 515 drivers to the propriety ones didn't solve the problem, and WB started but with err msgs and wasn't fully functional, according to the user (I admin the machine, don't use ansys). What did the trick, but probably with a performance penalty, was to set the following env var: export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 Thanks again, /Zvika
