SubscriberI am attempting to complete EdX course Hands On Introduction to Engineering Simulations from Cornell which is focused on using ANSYS 2020 R2 for FEA and CFD analysis.
I am trying to run ANSYS 2020 R2 for Students (Recommended version for the course) on a 64bit Windows 10 Intel i5-6300U with an Intel HD Graphics 520 card. When I try to open Workbench, it goes through the initialization window and gets to "Initializing Project" but then the program quits and doesn't open.
I have Windows Defender installed and it pops up but I choose to allow Public, Private and Domain. I was not connected to a VPN while installing. I checked the driver on my graphics card with Device Manager and DXDIAG and it is up to date (1/7/2021).
Strangely, Mechanical APDL will open to the GUI main screen. SpaceClaim does not open at all. Also, there seem to be some processes from Workbench still running in the background after I attempt to open it.
This is the only Windows 10 computer I have access to. I have a machine running Ubuntu Linux but I believe you need Red Hat for ANSYS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

SubscriberI still am having an issue. I want to take a couple other courses on ANSYS as well (LEAP Australia, others) but this snag is holding me up. I might need an entirely different setup.
I made this new post because the other one got labeled "Answered" and also this is for a different version of ANSYS.
Hope that is OK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Forum ModeratorWhat do you have installed for Antivirus? You may try disabling it to see if there's any change in behavior. Also, the Intel integrated graphics are not officially supported and known to have problems. You can review supported graphics devices here: https://www.ansys.com/content/dam/it-solutions/platform-support/previous-releases/graphical-display-graphics-cards-tested-2020-r2.pdf Essentially we support Nvidia and AMD devices for most of our products.

SubscriberThe video card sounds like it might be the issue. I donÔÇÖt think I have antivirus besides Windows Defender but I will look into it.
Thanks for your response.
