      Hi, 

      As per the manual, both ALE_COUPLING_NODAL_CONSTRAINT and PENALTY support coupling with SPH nodes. However, _PENALTY-based coupling works well with a _CONSTRAINT type that satisfies essential boundary conditions, leading to energy dissipation.
