SubscriberDear all,
I've been trying to develop a code about shell element with reduced integration. I referred to ANSYS documentation about shell181. In part of membrane hourglass contral, I refer to the Ted BELYTSCHKO's paper, 'Efficient implementation of quadrilaterals with high coarse-mesh accuracy - ScienceDirect', but the results are not consistent with shell181 when I used trapezoidal meshes. Was the calculation incorrect, or shell181 using another method of hourglass control? I’d appreciate any help or advice from experienced folks.

Forum ModeratorHello,
When KEYOPT(3) = 0 is specified, SHELL181 uses an hourglass control method for membrane and bending modes. By default, SHELL181 calculates the hourglass parameters for both metal and hyperelastic applications.Â
For more details please refer the following link: SHELL181
