It is difficult to gauge the exact reason based on the description provided. There could be multiple reasons why the simulation would diverge, such as mesh, case setup, time step size, etc.
Here are the general guidelines that you could check to ensure they are incorporated in your simulation:
- Solver schemes – Use Implicit.
- Time step size – Use a time step size lower than the one you are currently using in your simulation.
- Primary phase – If it is a closed domain, the primary phase must be a compressible fluid (I assume it would be air in your simulation).
- Ideal gas – If it is a closed domain, enable ideal gas for air.
