Waveport s is internal to solution domain and not fully backed with a PEC object..

      Hello,

I get the error message when simulate basic microstrip transmission line simulation. I validate my design, after that, simulation began and it suddenly stopped and said:

[error] Port refinement, process hf3d error: Waveport s is internal to solution domain and not fully backed with a PEC object..

Then I check excitations and boudaries. There are 3 boundaries : Microstrip, GND and Radiation box.

And there are two excitations SMA_pin_1 and SMA_pin_2. Everything looks okey until simulation begins.

,nIt seems waveport assignment is not correct, Could you please share a picture that can show how the port is assigned? Please check that you have modeled the SMA connector correctly with the proper material properties.nRegards,nVivekn

this time the airbox is absent.nport setup is incorrect. Check the help for Wave Port Size, and Define an Integration Line articles.n

Hello,nI have used the same SMA connector in another transmission line simulation and it works without any problem.nIs it about design of FR4 part? Solution type was chosen as modal and driven option is network analysis. nThank you...n

AndyJP, I read the parts that you recommended and I made required changes. However, error is not change. This time there are no SMA connector and still the same error... nCan you guys help me please?n

nThanks for reaching to us and we appreciate your patience.nPlease make sure that there is no air gap between the wave port and the airbox boundary. The wave port interface in both of your simulation models should be touching the air box boundary to get rid of this error.nAll the very best.nBest Regards, n
